Using our foil shadow figures we were able to experiment with ways we can change shadows by altering the direction of the light and the distance it is from the figure.

Wartime Baking

Wartime Baking On Wednesday 24th January Year 6 placed themselves into the shoes of children from WWII by exploring the concept of rationing and exactly what this meant. After discussing the average weekly rations for children aged 5-16; the types of foods that would have been rationed and getting our heads around the fact that some children spent their entire childhood having never seen a banana, the children were set the task of creating 'Carrot Cookies'. These cookies contained only ingredients which would have been available via a ration card or by being grown by individuals in their gardens. The children were pretty skeptical as to how they would taste (after seeing how little sugar was in the recipe). However they all seemed delighted with the results. Year 6 Communication Letter Friday 9 th September 2016 Dear Parents/ Carers of Year 6 Pupils, We hope that you have had a really enjoyable summer. It is lovely to be back in school and I am delighted with how quickly the children have settled into Year 6.
